Okargo was founded in Marseille in April 2014 by Julien Chapus, drawing on first-hand experience of the complexity of ocean freight rate management. After working with ocean carrier MSC and independent freight forwarders, Julien identified a recurring challenge: freight forwarders were receiving growing volumes of rate sheets in different formats, making ocean freight rates difficult and time-consuming to organize, maintain and compare.

Okargo was created to make that work simpler. Today, Okargo is an ocean freight rate management platform built for freight forwarders. It centralizes, processes, standardizes and compares negotiated rate sheets and ocean freight rates available through supported online carrier portals in one system.

Online Carrier Quotes: Okargo connects to supported ocean carrier online portals and makes the rates offered through those portals accessible directly in Okargo or in your TMS. Coverage per portal, with connection method and measured response times, is published in the carrier coverage table on our solution page.

Okargo application: a web-based platform dedicated to ocean freight rate management, enabling freight forwarders to search, compare and select ocean freight rates in one place.

API & TMS integration: Okargo rates can be integrated into your existing systems via API. If your TMS is not already listed among our integrations, we can study the possibility of connecting to it.

E-forwarding platforms: Okargo supplies ocean freight rate technology to e-forwarding platforms. Its rate-extraction engine can be integrated via API so that rate searches made within a third-party platform are processed through Okargo and returned directly into that platform.

Routing information: through our partnership with BigSchedule, Okargo complements rate searches with routing information such as transit times, transshipments and services.
